About the AJN |
Mission and VisionThe Asian Journals Network (AJN) is a consortium of humanities and social sciences journals based in universities and institutions in Asia. The network seeks to become a hub of editors, academics, and authors in the world of international journal publishing, working collaboratively towards advancing knowledge production in and about Asia, promoting excellence in scholarship at par with international standards, and advocating critical and creative interventions against the commodification of research and scholarly publishing in which access to resources is biased toward certain traditionally dominant institutions and disciplines.
To this end, AJN initiates activities that engage in issues related to a truly international journal publishing in the humanities and social sciences. These issues include knowledge production and circulation, editorial quality control, and marketing, especially as these pertain to journals that focus on research endeavors and artistic practices in, but not limited to, literature, arts, language, culture, history, ideas, and society. |
Specific Aims1. Develop and maintain a website representing AJN’s interests, projects, and constituents.
2. Advance Asian identities, interests, and scholarship. 3. Develop editorial and production protocols that include, but are not limited to, peer evaluation, editorial board membership, and increasing contributor and reviewer bases. 4. Develop practices that improve promotion, marketing, and visibility. 5. Develop protocols that expand network membership. 6. Critique indexing and citation processes, or develop alternatives to these, i.e., database. 7. Develop joint projects and exchanges that help advance the above interests. |
